Road Trip 2021- Part One

 Aloha all,

I did not realize that I might have had island fever living in Hawaii…BUT… when you cannot leave the island for almost 18 months, the urge to go somewhere becomes very strong.

After I was vaccinated and all my family were vaccinated, I decided to “hit the road” by taking a road trip on the mainland to visit family and friends. Currently I am Madison Wisconsin visiting my Aunt and taking a breather from driving across the western states and the plains states.

I thought I would share the first part of the journey.   I have forgotten how VAST and BEAUTIFUL the western states are and how FLAT the plains states can be.

Photos from the first 2,532 miles.  Enjoy! Caroline

April 27: SAN DIEGO: Hugging my daughter, buying the new car

April 28: Drive to Las Vegas

May 1: Drive to Torrey Utah and scenic route 12

May 3: Drive to Carbondale Colorado ( near Glenwood Springs)

May 5-7: Drive from Colorado across Nebraska and Iowa

May 7-9: Mother’s Day weekend in Madison Wisconsin.  Spring has sprung.

More to come.  I depart Madison May 10 for Minneapolis and begin the drive back to San Diego.
Aloha all

  2. Great photos, Caroline! Glad you took photos of Carbondale, CO - really lovely country! I spent a snowy Thanksgiving in Redstone, closer to Aspen, one year in the 1970s, lots of good memories. Nebraska looked like Nebraska - many trips from Boulder to Grand Island area as a child to visit grandparents. UT is stunning! Will look forward to your next posting. Travel safely!! Aloha!! Rosie

    1. Beautiful pictures! Many of the places I have never see like Colorado. I did drive through Nebraska and it’s so flat. Your car looks great. I will see it next year in Hawaii. Looking forward to your next posting.
      Aloha, Sue
