Hiking in Ireland: Kerry Way Day 3

Aloha All,

Fascinating adventure "hill walking"- the term that is used here!  To everyone's surprise, there are NO small towns, once we leave our B&B town and head out.  We are hiking in high meadows, old forests, farm lands and other paths definitely off the beaten path.  We don't see many other "hill walkers", we don't see any taxis just lingering in case I want to stop and take ride.  Once we leave our accommodations, we are committed to the days hike.

We have had cool overcast weather so far- good for hiking.  Definitely not as hot as it was when we walked/hiked the Dingle way!

Day 3 Glencar to Glenbeigh
Statistics 12 miles, 29, 122 Caroline steps and the equivalent of 76 Stories!

Today is amigo Pat's birthday.  Kerri had carried a card and candles and had pre-ordered breakfast cupcakes!  A good surprise.

Happy Birthday Pat... 66 years young!
And then to celebrate we headed off for our walk.

We met a wonderful fisherman, fishing for North Atlantic salmon , swimming upriver.  He has to pay  150 euros for an annual license and then 50 euros A DAY depending upon the river you fish.  Delightful guy to chat with, but we had miles to go before our beer.
Wood ear mushrooms on the trees.

And THEn we came to our first Fairy Forest.  What a wonderful diversion for walking up hills and in the woods.
Zoom in on the poem as it is very cute.  And then enjoy the photos of all the fairy houses along our way.
